FGateManager Overview
FGateManager is a configuration management software for IoT terminal devices, which remotely transmits data or programmes from industrial devices in a large number of different areas on site to the IoT cloud platform by means of the Internet (Ethernet, WiFi, 4G, etc.).
FGateManager enables remote data monitoring, data configuration, remote upgrading and maintenance, equipment diagnosis, real-time alarm information monitoring, historical data query and storage, edge computing, etc., providing users with a simple and reliable solution for remote transmission of IoT data.
The IoT cloud platform is composed of the following parts:
| Component | Description |
|---|---|
| Device | FGate and the on-site PLCs, meters, inverters and HMI it connects to. |
| Server | FM Cloud server group or user-built private cloud server. |
| FGateManager | PC/Web client, mobile APPs and OPC/SDK etc. |
The system composition of the IoT cloud platform is shown in the figure below:

In the IoT cloud platform, the cloud server is used to connect a large number of FGates on site to implement the functions , such as remote management of devices, data collection, storage and transmission. It is the hub of FGates.
FGate is an IoT terminal devices access gateway, which is a bridge between terminal devices and cloud servers. IoT terminal devices transmit data to cloud servers through FGate, and users manage FGate and IoT terminal devices connected to FGate through FGateManager to configure the data that IoT terminal devices need to transmit to the cloud servers.
Features of FGateManager have the following characteristics:
Support remote download and monitoring of mainstream PLC programs, and reduce business trip;
Support VPN, one-click connection, simple and convenient;
Support remote monitoring of IoT terminal device data via PC client, mobile App and web client;
Support alarm notification by email;
Support historical record, collect and record the data of registered monitoring points, support displaying data in the form of list or curve and common statistical analysis;
Support remote shutdown, binding FGate and PLC to control shutdown remotely, which is convenient for remote device management such as rental device;
Open API interface, open HTTP interface, making it easy to connect to third-party cloud platform;
Support flexible and configurable MQTT data forwarding with support for FM Cloud;
Support permission hierarchy to configure user accounts with different permission, which is easy for equipment manufacturers and end customers to use.
IoT Cloud Platform Access Gateway - FGate
FGate is the gateway of IoT cloud platform used to collect data from terminal devices such as industrial field PLC, meters, frequency inverters, and enables remote configuration and maintenance of terminal devices. In the IoT cloud platform, the cloud server connects the remote client (FGateManager) to the industrial field devices through FGate, which is based on ARM Cortex-A8 processor core, with 3 Ethernet ports, 3 serial communication ports, and has the ability to interconnect various wireless devices through WiFi/GPRS/4G.
In practice, FGate is installed in the field cabinet and connected to different types of PLCs, smart meters or inverters through serial or Ethernet ports, etc. The data from PLCs or meters are synchronised to the Internet cloud server in real time through FGate.
FGate gets real-time data from the field, and users can get the device operation state via FGateManager; FGate collects the operation data from the industrial site, which provides data support for users to optimize the industrial site and trace back the on-site accidents; FGate monitors the warning and pushes the alarm information of the device in real time, so that users can deal with the on-site accidents in a timely manner; FGate transfers the on-site data to the third-party cloud platform, and easily connects to users' cloud platforms. At the same time, users can remotely debug the PLC to achieve remote control of the industrial site; remotely update the PLC programme through the transparent transmission to achieve the update and upgrade of the remote device. Add a camera to view the real-time industrial site and achieve the monitoring of the site.
FGate has been widely used in air conditioning, water supply, building, heating, cold storage, laboratory equipment, air compressors, packaging, printing, textile, rental equipment, environmental protection equipment and unmanned pumping stations.
There are four models of FGate: FGate-4G, FGate-4G-G, FGate-4G-lite, and FGate-WiFi.
The characteristics of FGate are as shown below (except FGate-4G-lite ):
- Use ARM Cortex-A8 high-performance CPU;
- Built-in network switch, providing three Ethernet interfaces to facilitate on-site networking;
- Support multiple wireless internet connections: WiFi, GPRS, 4G;
- Provide three serial communication interfaces: COM1 (RS232/RS485/RS422), COM2 (RS485) and COM3 (RS232);
- Provide two optoelectronic isolation digital input channels and two relay output channels
- Support SD card, USB HOST supports 16GB external storage SD card or USB disk;
- Support USB SLAVE download configuration, debugging program.
FGate Management Client - FGateManager
To access or operate FGate devices, you need to use the FGateManager client, which includes the PC client, Web client and mobile client (Android App and iOS App).
